Preventive effects of montelukast against acetaminophen-induced nephrotoxicity: An experimental study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: Montelukast, an asthma drug, has anti-inflammatory effect on tissues. We aimed to investigate therapeutic of montelukast (MK) acetaminophen (APAP) - induced renal damage in rat models. Material and Methods: Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into four groups six animals each. APAP was administered intraperitoneally as a single dose 1000 mg/kg/day. In the treatment group, MK 10 mg/kg by oral gavage after APAP. The other + Saline group control group. measured tissue malondialdehyde (MDA), reduced glutathione (GSH), Nitric oxide (NO) levels determine nephrotoxicity. Results: Serum Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) creatinine significantly higher than groups. level GSH diminished APAP-treated rats. However, administration increased Tissue MDA treated with alone compared NO elevated lower Furthermore, some morphological recoveries observed Conclusion: beneficial effects APAP-induced toxicity dysfunction. clinical studies are needed demonstrate appropriate use effects. Keywords: acetaminophen, kidney, montelukast, nephrotoxicity, oxidative stress

Aim of the study is to investigate the Nephroprotective activity of ethanolic extract taken from Melia azadirachta leaves, against APAP (Acetaminophen) induced nephrotoxicity. The phytochemical screening was carried out on the leaf extracts of Melia azadirachta, revealed the presence of active ingredients such as Phytol, Squalene, Oleic Acid, 2-Piperidinone, N-[4-bromo-n-butyl]. Leaves of Melia...

Protective Effects of Descurainia sophia against Gentamicin Induced Nephrotoxicity in Rats

Several studies have tried to find an efficient agent to prevent or reverse gentamicin (Gm) induced acute kidney injury (AKI). In this study, we assessed the potential renal protective effects of Descurainia sophia (L.) Webb ex Prantl against Gm-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. Thirty-five male Wistar rats were categorized in five groups (n = 7 per group). Control group was treated with...
